One was "Nightflyers," a science fiction movie based on the book by George R.R. Martin. Virtually everything from the book was changed and the movie was not a big hit. Michael says that when the costumers came to him, they asked what sort of costume he wanted. He said anything except for latex, since he knew it didn't breathe and was uncomfortable...so that is exactly what the made for him.

(M) After "Nightflyers," Michael filmed a made-for-television movie entitled "Writer's Block." In that, he was the fantasy-character of a writer, who didn't realize that he and the fictionalized serial murderer her editor was urging her to kill off, were one and the same.  His co-star in this movie was Morgan Fairchild.

Next he went on to film one of my personal favorites, not because of the stirling acting or breath-taking cinematography, but because I just enjoyed seeing Michael in it so much. Playing Vlad Tepes, the vampire most people know as "Dracula," Michael's character was trying to live the life of a vampire who had mended his ways and sought to live without killing others. If you like horror films, and certainly if you like Michael, you will enjoy this movie entitled "To Die For II: Son of Darkness."  Soon after, Michael appeared at the Visions convention in Chicago, then ended to Ireland.    (O)

Between Dynasty and Night Flyers, Michael was living in the L.A. area with his girlfriend .  He packed his bags shortly after Nightflyers to return to the United Kingdom.
M  The black and white photographs above, as well as those below on this page, were taken by a professional photographer Brian Aris. The b&w shots were taken just before Michael starred as "Billie" in a production of "Carousel," in Dublin Ireland, and is availabe exclusively from MPNN, as is the one below.
M Michael was seen in "Carousel," and offered the lead in Andrew Lloyd Weber's "Aspects of Love."  It meant cutting his hair, but he didn't seem to mind at all. While doing Aspects, Michael appeared on several British television talk shows, and in magazine and newspaper articles.

You can see what a difference this made to his image! Michael's hair is still fairly short, and as of Spring 1997, he's in Los Angeles.

Michael appeared in several plays in Great Britian, winning critical aclaim. He also starred in a television series there, playing a lawyer in "Crown Prosecutor," and in the mini-series "Riders," he played the Gypsie Jake.

Not to be type-cast as the constant hero, Michael played a real scoundral in a British movie, "Staggered." Enjoy the selection of photos below.  I hope to have more in a few more months. The following are convention photos taken by me or Kate and/or Morn (of the Michael Praed Network).(M)  The photo at left from MPNN was one that graced the cover of an early issue, which can be back-ordered. Continue on for Michael's latest project - I've got some new pictures there, too.
